Pediatrics

Sleep is vital to a child’s healthy growth and development. By 6 months of age, a child should be able to sleep 9 hours a night. Many sleep problems in children are very common and can be corrected with good sleep hygiene techniques such as establishing a bed time routine, keeping a consistent bed time, giving the child a light snack before bed if he/she is hungry, and making bed time a quiet and peaceful time by avoiding active games or activities right before bed.

Research links ADD and sleep conditions. It is estimated that nearly 25 percent of children diagnosed with attention deficit disorder (ADD) are misdiagnosed and actually suffer from a sleep condition. While lack of sleep in adults results in daytime fatigue, in children it often results in overactive behavior, difficulty focusing at school and other behavior problems.

REM Medical is equipped to diagnose and treat children as young as two years of age for their sleep-wake disorder.  We understand that parents are concerned about their child’s sleep for healthy development.  Our team is equipped with the experience and technology to provide the right diagnosis and develop a solution that works.
